Access Media 3 Yelp! Review of the Day!

Today's Access Media 3 Yelp! Review of the Day comes from "Juho S." in Chicago:

"I live in 35XX N. Lakeshore Dr. and there are about 450 units in my building.

My building somehow changed to Access Media 3 (AM3) from RCN as TV and Internt Service Provider. To make a long story short, the quality of AM3 is just horrible. Since the change to AM3, the TV service got cut off a few times and although they claim that the issue has been resolved, the signal gets cut off when it rains. But, my issue is with Internet more than a TV.

According to AM3, I was getting DSL Internet via phone line for a few years. A few weeks ago, I was  NOT getting an internet service suddenly and I was told that it was an entire buidling issue by AM3 Tech Support person. The next day, I called again since I was still NOT getting a service and the tech support person did NOT seem to have any clue what was going wrong..... 3 days later, I was told that AM3 no longer provides internet service via DSL at my building since the upgrade (?) of their system with AM3 at my building.

Of course, I was furious since .. First.. the tech support gave me a wrong reason why I was NOT getting a service ... and Second .. more than anyting... I was NEVER notified that my DSL service would be cut off.... I was able to get the internet access a few days later.... But, it is SO SLOW !!

It used to be 3.25 -7 Mbps for download 1.5 -3 Mbps for upload with DSL with AM3, but now I get 0.14 - 1.2 Mpbs for download... Lord..... 0.14 Mbps !!! .. Can you guys imagine an internet speed of 0.14 Mbps?... Of course, I called tech support a few times.... But, no progress.... (Not to metion the long waiting period to even talk to someone !!)

Conclusion!!... AM3 provides THE WORST quality service ever for both internet and TV. Their tech support is just a joke. If there is anyone who is considering a service with AM3, please try something else. AM3 may be a bit cheaper than other service providers, but it will be difficult for you to maintain a sanity with AM3."

  1. going on 7 years of bad service, access media 3 has absolutely no idea what customer service means. one - two weeks without TV service. It's bulk TV so they get their $$$$ and don't need to worry about customer service. I too am considering a move to leave this poor choice from our board!

  2. Will not replace poor equipment. Cannot watch a program all the way through because downloading satellite keeps coming on and won't download and starts all over again and again and again. Comes back and repeats for another 20 or 30 mins. Call for service and can't get an appointment for a week or two. Customer Service is sooooo BAD.

  3. It actually gets worse. Those 10 minutes outages between noon and 1pm, and the "glitches" at 3pm? Totally deliberate. Their engineers are so stupid that they often have to reboot everything to get some piece working they can't figure out. I've lost my "work from home" privs because of them. Do they realize just how violent that can make someone? I have to go to the office when others don't because they DELIBERATELY are throwing my connection on the ground.

I learned that by running out to the main hook-up when a big noon time outage happened and found them laughing their head off toggling whatever struck their fancy. But the proof was when we had 3 weeks of wind, rain and tornadoes. Should be toast for 'em, no? NOT ONE OUTAGE. 3 weeks of peace and a reliable connection. Then the weather returned to normal. Monday. Beautiful. Noon. Three 10 minute outages.

  4. I pay for internet only, and my god is it awful. Horrible speeds, high pricing, they're just scumbags who survive off of property contracts with apartment complexes. It's awful! I'm sure they know very well that they would be out of business if the residents had ANY choice or say-so in who their ISP was.

  5. I dislike being negative, but Access Media 3 has been the worst communication service provider that I have ever encountered. My 400-unit condo in Houston, Texas somehow contracted their (dis)services and we now have no choice. In the last year, my phone and internet have completely failed two times. Twice, upon "repair", the phone automatically disconnects after 15 minutes. In addition, after one technician visit when I wasn't present, the phone still didn't work. I checked the connection box and a cable hadn't been plugged in. Really sloppy and unchecked work. Steer far clear of this company if possible.
